The Bad Plus Chester Concert reviews
JM is very talented but better off not so stoned
In Boston last night, I saw The Bad Plus perform, but it seemed pretty stoned/out of it. Perhaps feeling a bit overwhelmed by all his recent negative publicity, his performance appeared uninspired. The Bad Plus did a lot of improvising, spending time jamming on the guitar. While a display of his great musical talent, it wasn't what I came to hear. A few years back in New Orleans, I was really amazed by his talent, and enjoyed hearing all of my favorite The Bad Plus songs. I left inspired. I know The Bad Plus can do better; I hope he gets his act together, grows up a little bit and regains his inspiration so he doesn't need a big fat joint to get him through his concerts.
